Changed the oil (with VR1) and filter today (thanks Adrian 4x4 for the filter) . Hot engine oil pressure before the changeover 18-20 psi, hot engine oil pressure after changing the oil 35-40 psi. Seems like a good result.

Sorry no idea first oil change since getting the car recently. I can say that there was only about 4.5 litres of whatever it was in there and it was proper black but not sticky at all. I ran it the hundred or so miles home and thought i should change it as a precaution-glad I did.

The old oil was probably 10/40 or 20/50 which was old and contaminated with petrol, either way nice to see that sort of a rise in oil pressure ,just shows how important the correct oil and regular oil changes are
All the best

Hi Paul, that sounds like a result . Engine oil plays its part in cooling, I really wouldn't let it get below the max mark. Martin.
Thanks for the comments guys. 3,000 mile changes for this car from now on and until something better comes along I'm sold on VR1.
Martin you're absolutely right, I should have topped up before driving it home but got excited and forgot. Also got distracted by it failing to start at petrol station 10 miles into ownership. See my other thread I think I might have solved that now-famous last words....

Hi Paul, can you put that statement in the diary please, and let Bob know Martin.
