    Soft top side seals

I have just reinstalled my soft top having given it a bit of a spruce up. The side seals above the door are causing me some problems. The ones that came off were the original soft foam type, and the new ones are much harder rubber and they are pushing the door frames way out and leaving big gaps everywhere.

    So two questions:

    1. are the original type seals available (I guess not)

and assuming my guess is right:

    2. What to people do to get around the problem?

I use my Stag in all weathers so gaps almost big enough to stick a finger through aren't really acceptable!

I have taken photo's but it won;t let me upload them at the moment!

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

    Dave

As far as I know the seal is the right way round - it is the same way round as the ones that came off anyway!

That scratch is bad luck Dave. The hood seal over the door should lean inwards, yours looks as if it leans outwards. Martin.

              Hi Dave

Check out this thread - as you will see the one's supplied by Seals Direct are far better than the one's from most suppliers

Hi dave i had the same problem with my hood, hard seals and the wrong profile, changed them for seal from SEALS+DIRECT part number att1974 Description IRS1548EP Triumph stag hood seal @ £8.53 per meter+vat and delivery, it has a profile that pushes in on the shutting of the door, will post a picture if you require, but it is also a lot softer than the seals from other manufactures.

                Hope this is of use?

                  Nice one guys,

I think you have come up trumps there. Seals duly ordered!

I will also see if I can adjust the hood upwards a bit as it might be sitting a bit low which won't be helping either. (Just thought of that!).

Alan - I am not overly fussed about the scratch, the paint isn't great anyway. I have slapped a load of touch up paint on it for the time being to keep the water off it. I will see if I can tidy it up...one day! - while my neighbour was helping me get the hard top off he managed to swing the door open onto my next door neighbours car as well - a small white scratch on that one now! Oops!

                  Many Thanks

                  Dave
