    New Engine Fitted

I have just had fitted a new engine and put all the bits and bobs back on from my old engine, when cold trying to start it is a pain its taking about 30 to 40 seconds to start, when it does start and is warm it starts straight away with no problems, it has electronic ignition any info or ideas thanks in advance. Lack of compression on new engine?

First spot would be are the choke cables adjusted right - then check the yellow/white wire is on the starter or you won't get a decent spark when cold cranking....

Just a thought, could it be a vacume leak in the inlet manifold?

Wrong way round - a vacuum leak would be less obvious when it was cold as there is extra fuel kicking about from the choke, and hot starting would be poor instead.

My money would be on the cold start bypass on the ballast resistor still.

You should get together with Don Maxwell, Will...... between you, you would have one car that starts all the time, and one completely dead one.......
