Has anyone else had difficulty in getting fuel? I usually fill up on a Friday but tonight I was only allowed £30 worth, and that was not from my usual garages - they had no fuel at all!! Hopefully there will be deliveries tomorrow, or overnight...

Are all people in this country thick? Why are people queing for fuel? There's not a strike yet and they have to give 7 days notice, the Army will then take over the deliveries. Every station in Kiddy and Stourport has ques off the forecourts, mostly by local drivers who probably do 10 miles a week but have been panicked by those dick heads in charge!!!
I have 1/2 a tank in my caddie which should get me to London and back if I'm called out, then I'll fill up!
Grrrr

I bet the Government are laughing their socks off at the sudden increase in their coffers....kerrrrrchinggg. Although I won't be stocking up, I would be interested in using Francis Maude as a container for a few emergency gallons.

Totally agree Jason, both my cars have half a tank and we can shuffle fuel about in the bikes at work if it comes to it. Sharon had to queue for 20 mins this morning as she was nearly out.

By the way, why are the drivers going to strike? What are they after? I'm sure they get about £45k per year for driving tankers! I'd do it for that

Something to do with changes to H+S rules apparently, however ironically the government is relaxing the restrictions on drivers hours so that they can catch up with the backlog. So how long before one of them falls asleep at the wheel....?ZF 4 spd box, Datsun shafts, SS exhaust, 38DGMS weber 158.9bhp, BMW MC Tomcat seatssigpic

Didnt queue for my fuel even though I had none! Waited until all the petrol had gone at that associated dairies place thats owned by Walmart (has taken two days and meant I had to push the pedals to get to work) and only diesel is left.
Once again its great to be politcaly incorrect and drive an oil burning 4x4!

Remembering the Bunsfield fire/cloud I don't think there should be any decrease in H and S regarding fuel deliveries.Do bear in mind when a road tank is full it is a less stable load(even with baffles in the tank),roundabouts are the most hazardous for manovering a vehicle nearly full of liquid(avoid cutting tankers up at roundabouts) and when a tanker has discharged its load of petrol it then takes back with it the vented gas from the underground forcourt tank,it there for contains an air and vapour mix which is highly explosive! I have done the ADR licence for carridge of dangerous goods in tanks, the course is thorough and requires exams to be passed. If drivers can get good money for carrying this stuff around good luck to them.
I think the Government was correct in stating we need to take precautions against running out of fuel, however the left leaning media and BBC are having a beano kicking the government and whipping up hysteria to further there own ends, nothing changes......
The badly burned woman story does rather prove the point of how dangerous petrol can be.....pulling a tank with 25000L's in a big responsability and can be froght with danger considering the volume of road users and poor standard of driving performed by some.
Just my points of view, rant over.....Andrew.

I absolutley agree with you Andrew.
You cant blame the government for peoples ignorance. Why would anyone decant PETROL in a kitchen with a gas burner lit?
OK its stupid to say store lots of petrol in your garage incase there is a strike but we are all responsible for our own health and safety when at home... so take care of yourself!
Road haulage of any dangerous goods is a nightmare when the traffic is as bad and some of the driving is even worse! There should however be a national agreement for all road tanker drivers concerning pay and safety and working hours but they shouldnt be threatening the public with no fuel whilst they get it sorted out. Their gripe must be with their employers not the public or the government.
