    Electrical Question

    Hello everybody,
My temp gauge which has sat nicely just below 90 (mk 1) on a run,now goes straight to 90 when the ignition is switched on then goes between 90 and 140 when the engine is up to temperature.I assume its the voltage stabalizer that needs changed? Have I correctly identified it on the back of the speedo? and what is the small round attachment that is wired between the speedo holding down bracket and into the stabalizer?

    Thanks ,Alastair.

Radio interference suppression - being a hotwire device, there is sparking in the stabiliser. This is there to stop rfi.

Not really an issue with decent am rejection circuits in modern radios, so although you can refit it, you don't necessarily have to.

Thanks,Russ, would fitting an electronic stabaliser do away with the need for the suppressor?

Electronic ones operate in a different way, with no sparking, so if you go electronic then IMHO you can safely confine it to the spares box. As I previously mentioned, they were only necessary with older radios that were very sensitive to interference on am frequencies, so unless you decide to keep an old am radio then you could lose all these LT suppressors as no longer needed.
