Northern meet up around Stoke somewhere

    Hi all

I seem to recall a suggestion for us Northerners to get together at lunch time in Easter Sunday somewhere around Stoke. Is it my imagination or have I just missed the posts in the forum?

    Cheers

I'll try and get my thinking hat on to suggest somewhere. A couple of suggestions to be going on with - Darlaston Inn on the A34 in between Trentham and Stone? Or how about The Wayfarer just a bit further along the A34 (Used to be notorious for it's Thursday night "grab a grannie" nights in the 1980s - so I'm told )

I hope the weather will be kind to us.

    Regards

    Peter

I think you lot from so far South should call yourselves "the in betweeners"!! Shame I'm busy over Easter or I would have driven my modern car two hours South to meet up with you!

Have a great weekend all of you!

            We park up
            We buy a drink
            We admire each other's cars
We take the mickey out of the guy who discovered a grave in his garage.
            We go home.

If a scenic drive is required, we could ask the Stokies for suggestions.

            Regards

                  Right then, let's be decisive.

Forget the previous suggested pubs, my vote is for this one.

Location is ideal just off J16 M6, it looks a gorgeous, olde worlde place. It appears to serve decent food too, so I might invite the missus and one or more of the offsprings.

No agenda, no plan, just a nice pub with nice cars. Weather looks to be cloudy, but dry.

                  Who's up for it?

                  Regards

I could well be up for this, won't be in the Stag though due to lack of MOT, though it will be in something with a stag engine!

                      Hi Neil

If you do come along, would you mind taking a listen to my engine? I have the annoying left hand bank tapping and an untrained ear. I'd be grateful for any help which could narrow this down to a cam backet or little end, or whatever.

Have had the engine re-built recently so it has all new valves and springs, so the usual suspect of broken spring should be unlikely. But there my technical knowledge on the possible causes ends!

                      Cheers

                        Hi Peter

What time were you thinking of? Parking might be a bit tight from the Google pics?

                        Cheers

Yes you are right, it does appear to have only limited parking spaces, but I understand that customers park on the road.

It is only a very small hamlet, so the road is not busy at all and it is perfectly safe to park.

                              How about 12.30 ish?

I'm probably bringing the wife and daughters on the promise of a Sunday lunch.

Forecast is for 12 degrees, overcast, but should be dry with only a 15% chance of light rain. So my hood may ("will" if the wife comes) be up!

                              Regards
