Hi everyone. I received my header tank kit during the week and fitted it yesterday and Id like to say what a great kit it is too. Thanks to all concerned in producing the kit for us not so mechanically minded. Even with my limited knowledge it took me about a day to fit although I did fit a recon radiator and flushed the system at the same time. I spent yesterday evening cruising round the Dorset countryside until the warning buzzer activated and woke me up, just a little settling of the system and a quick top up and another hour and a half of dual carriageway and country lanes with no further incidences. Thanks again.

Yes it came with everything you need, all hoses, clips, buzzer, wiring, everything, just open the box check the contents and fit you may need some antifreeze to top up after fitting thats all. The only adjustment I made was I had to bend the fitting bracket slightly to fit my top strut. I guess this would vary from stag to stag depending on previous repairs etc. I did have a few problems making the top hose seal again around my Kenlowe sensor, not the kits fault, hence the two clips which seems to have sorted it nicely.Last edited by Dan stag; 7 April 2012, 10:52.

The kit comes with either the T piece for the top hose or the Right angled connector depending on wether you have a MK1 or MK2 when you order you have to state which type you require. Mine is a MK2 hence the adaptor. I hope that helps. I'm pretty sure that's the reason anyway, best check before ordering I guess.Last edited by Dan stag; 7 April 2012, 12:55.

That is a job on the list Peter although the fuel filter nozzle is about an inch long and the pipe is pushed in about three quarters of the way.Originally posted by Another Peter View PostDan that looks really good.
If you don't mind me saying, you need to push that fuel pipe further onto your fuel filter.

I have one of vmads kits fitted as well.
Can’t recommend it enough, so simple to fit, absolutely everything required is supplied even the instructions are great.
The only alteration I made was to connect the header tank overflow pipe to the original expansion bottle and fitted a non-pressure cap to the header tank. The header tank is now full to the brim and any expansion of the coolant goes into the expansion bottle and when it cools it is taken back into the system.

All three of my stag engines have header tanks, though being a cheapskate I made them all myself using different tanks, but since all my engine bays are cluttered with injection equipment, and only one engine is in a stag anyway, this kit wouldn't fit
I only ran my first stag engine for a little while with an expansion tank (in the TR), and got fed up with the temp needle wandering up and down. I could never seem to get all the air out of the system. With a header tank it is always full and the temp gauge is rock steady
There is a reason all modern cars come with a header tank!
