Already had to change my choke cables as the knob fitting wasn't right for the knob. Now tonight while I'm wrestling the console into position I suddenly discover that the cables also have to pass through the small hole on the dashboard support bracket behind the console itself or else the choke control fouls the bracket. Joy - second session of air box off, disconnect cables, withdraw, rethread through bulkhead etc and reconnect before refitting air box. Surely I must be an expert in this operation now ! Console still won't fit - think I'm struggling with the extra thickness of the leather trim. I think I'll slacken the dashboard bolts and the support bracket bolts and see if I can get some movement to slip the console underneath the dash. At least I had the good sense to stop tonight before my temper totally frayed !
