    Help fitting camshaft spockets

    Trying to refit camshaft spocket after a cylinder head overhaul and they dont seem to line up, has anybody have any suggestions, the WSM says to turn the engine but i dont want to do it wrong,Many thanks John

    Did you forget to pre- align the cam before fitting the head?

      No all the marks line up i just cant line up the bolts and dowl when i unbolt the retainer, it seems the chains are to tight John

        You have answered your own question..... the retainer brackets are frequently sitting too low and/or the hole the sprocket bolts to are huge allowing the tensioners to extend a little more and tightening the chains.

        Sorry to say, that to do it in a safe manner, you now need to pop the timing cover off and reset the tensioners....
