Has any used just a sealant such as permatex red RTV high temp silicone gasket, insteated of the paper gasket. Would it with stand the high pressure of the cooling cistern.
I wouldn't. You won't be able to control the overspill from the silicone, and you could substantially block the waterways. Much better that you make or buy some very thin gaskets, and use Wellseal, or have your manifold shaved a bit to fit......
It is, however, your engine to blow up in the manner of your choosing...
