    Handley Page Victor Association

I know that there are some 'V' force supporters among forum members and thought that they might be interested in this website.

They are having trouble with 'Spammers' at the moment so you might have to contact 'Admin' to register for the forum. It is hoped to move over to 'V' bulletin , what else, in the near future

    Cheers Peter

Have there been any more inadvertent "returns to flight" in the Victor world recently?

I know that all the V bombers were impressive, but am I alone in thinking that the Victor is the best looking?

I'm still a disciple of the tin triangle..... although the Victor was almost pretty in a nuclear holocaust delivering beast kind of way.....

It's a shame so few Valiants survived

Ok I am prejudiced but I agree with Peter. The 'Tin Triangle' was impressive but the Victor was the best looking. I saw an air display for the RCDS at St Mawgan by a Vulcan. The cloud base was low and the display was most impressive.
There was a Valiant outside Air Ops at Marham that was used in a film. The film crew made it into a Russian bomber. Does anyone know the film?

Hi Peter that must be going back some time, in my days at Marham (1991 onwards) it was a Victor. I'll ask my father in law about the film with a Valiant, he flew them in the AAR role from Marham in the 60s and knows all sorts of interesting stuff like that. Victor was the nicest tanker to take from in my opinion, Vulcan most impressive at Air Shows (Stafford 1977 when they could still fly over the crowd hooked me on aircraft and flying), never saw a Valiant fly but pa in law says they were lovely to fly, if a bit tense during the Bay of Pigs..

Nostalgia, it ain't what it used to be. Paul

Thank you very much - now I gave another thing to add to the list of things I will never own or get a ride in! In no particular order it already had a Solent sea-fort, Salma Hayek, a Supermarine Spitfire, almost any Aston from the DB4 onward and a Stag that starts when I want it too...

I think the Victor would have been stunning to look at if it was not for the "bell end" nose and how it bulges underneath - i think that was something to do with the ejectable crew pod and keeping all the crew in the same area.

If the nose had been a bit more conventional, it would have looked futuristically sensational in the same way that the fictional Thunderbirds Fireflash did...

Vulcan always scored for me as it looked like a giant fighter..

I have been quite lucky in that respect, but still got a few to go - flown Concorde twice across the Atlantic, flown in a RAF VC10 on a 5 hr air-to-air refuelling mission, driven a few different Lambos, Espada, Jarama and a passenger in a Mura, driven a DB6 Vantage through London and many other things - still on my bucket list: go supersonic in an English Electric Lightning (Thunder city in SA at about £9K I think) , fly a display routine in the Vulcan and a flit in a 2 seat Spitfire..... two are at least possible if i throw enough money at it....
