moving the alternator

at the week end i was trying to move the alternator to the other side,but run into a problem you can't get the belt off,i have a tony hart radiator and it is close to the bolt that holds the fan/viscous on,you can only get the belt off if you take the radiator out

how can i move the fan/viscous unit back,to give me the space to get the belts on and off

Hi dave, I got over it by fitting a mk1 p/s pulley, there about 15/20mm shorter they fit on to the main pulley driven by a dowl.John

The only way I have found to remove the belts is to take the radiator off. It doesn't take long although can be a bit inconvenient.
