New Dash Fitted - Ready For Drive It day

Just finished fitting my new dash today and must admit it looks great - the guy that did it was fantastic to deal with and even repaired the centre consul piece he supplied as the screw i used was to long and damaged the surface

The service was fantastic and he was so helpful i can recommend him whole heartedly, i am sure he would not mind me letting other members know, i have no connection just a happy customer.

His name is Dave Gardner and you can contact him on

I did try and put this in the Traders section but could not post in that section, i am sure if i have done wrong this post can be moved.

That's handsome Gary, very nice indeed ! What's in place of the centre vents ? rev camera, sat nav ? How did you refinish the window switches ? Martin.

      Hi Martin

Thanks Martin - most appreciated, as the only reaction i got from the wife was "You don't polish anything in the house like that"

I have fitted a Sat Nav into the centre vents as i did not like (and it also tended to Fall off) it fitted to the window - wired the charger into the 12V so when fitted in place it also charges.

I have tried everything regarding the switches (From Peanut Butter to Vinegar) and the best way i have found is to spray them with Back to Black leave them for about a day or two and then polish it off - do this a few times and the come up great.

        Hi Gary,
The dash looks great, but I'm interested in the carpet in your car, is it a replacement one? If so, where did you get it from and what colour is it? My sons car has a similar colour carpet that needs renewing.
        Thanks in advance,
        Raoul

          Hi Raoul

The carpets are two year old and i ordered them from South East Trimmers (they advertise in the Mag) went for the Brown rather than the Beige as with three kids the darker the better

            Hi Gary
Really nice finish on the dash and neat install on the sat-nav as well, did your window switches start out faded? isnt it funny the interior switch dosn't fade the same? Mine are really faded and will try that back to black trick you did, with £35 odd for replacements I have higher priorities for the car first.

              Hi Roger

They had the typical white marks on the surface and as i mentioned i have tried most things to clean them but must admit by spraying well & leaving the back to black for 24hrs then polishing they have come up quite well.

Went with English walnut (Crown Cut) rather than the American Black Walnut as i think over time it will colour better, although i must admit the previous dash was not bad after 30 odd years
