    Ooopps!

Had a letter today that my Landy was caught on a speed camera doing 36 in a 30.
The letter is addressed to the company secretary as it is a company vehicle. They want to know who was driving the vehicle, in theory it could have been any one of four of us.

Do I own up or is it possible to get away with saying no one is owning up to driving it?

This happened with one of our company cars a few years ago, a photograph was requested, when it arrived it wasn't possible to see who the driver was, case dropped.. so yes it might be possible to "get away with it" .

      Good Luck

It happened to me, the fleet manager named me even though it could have been my colleague and he was the main driver and was the one who filled in the log sheet.
Anyway to cut a long story short the photo was inconclusive and we genuinely didn't know who was driving so no further action was taken.
On another occasion I got flashed in the car and took the points on the chin so to speak even though SWMBO offered to take them.

multi use car - request photo and see how clear it is. Mrs B put herself forward for ticket on her car and it was clear it wasnt her when they sent the picture through and telling her how serious it is to knowingly put forward the wrong driver. Not sure why they didnt send the picture through in the first place!

I was told the unofficial allowance is 10% plus 3mph so in your case Al it would be 30+3+3=36mph -marginal. I got caught going downhill with foot on the brake doing 37mph and had to pay. Might be worth asking for a photo.

10%+2 mph Bob. 35 in a 30, 79 in a 70. Below this you could be offered a Speed Awareness Course. Above = fine + points.

Ask for the photo to confirm who it was for a multi-use company vehicle, it may be obvious that the evidence is not conclusive.

Just what we need.....more "human rights" cases. I'm all for not rolling over and I will fight my corner to the end but to hide behind human rights for a speeding offence is just ridiculous.

Had the same down in Middlesbrough in 2000, when working down there. We had a hire van which just about everybody used. The van was caught on cameras for jumping red lights, speeding you name it.
Unfortunately the guy who had signed for the Transit Van from the hire company, kept getting all the tickets. Eventually because the pictures were to blurred to identify who had actually been driving the cases were dropped.
Give it a go because I know I was driving on one occassion

I think that if you explore that site you will find there is rather more to it than just that. It is one of the more useful resources for any who receives a speeding ticket, and is not afraid to say "accept your punishment" if it is indeed a fair cop.

I would not rely on those 10% over plus a bit quotes. I got done by a camera in a van near Llangollen 7 years ago. The speeding ticket which arrived in the post stated I had been caught doing 32mph in a 30 zone. resulted in 3 points and a fine. Or perhaps it was because I was an Englishman driving in Wales!!
