    Stag on paper

    Hey Guys,
There's been a lot of talk about Stags on TV, Film and utube etc on this forum.
Does anyone know about any Stags being driven in novels?

    Cheers Johny

I suppose Ian Fleming mentioned it when he wrote 'Diamonds are Forever' since it appeared in the movie

Great question, and one that hasn't been asked on here before (as far as I can remember).

I can't add any answers though!

I'm asking partly out of curiousity and partly because I've had my first novel accepted by the publishers John Hunt Ltd.
I'm at the point now where I have to submit my completed and checked manuscript. They can make copy editing changes then but I have to pay I If I want any.
The hero has a car but it plays a very small part. I'd toyed with a Stag but it seemed a shame to waste it.
I'm one third through the follow up novel which has a Stag battling a boy racer, lol.

So... just wondering if anyones read anything?

My shortly to be published book "Highway to the Sun" will feature my Stag as well as quite a few other iconic cars of the 60's and 70's.
It is both an autobiography and travel book where one of the themes is all the cars I ever owned and drove, and takes the reader on a journey that starts out in a Central Lancashire Market Town, moves into Cheshire and North Wales, before ending up on the Island of Tenerife.
Below is a reproduction of the current "draft" Front and Back cover for the book. It will go on Sale through Amazon (Price $9.75 - discount for SOC members), initially in paperback form, then later in Kindle format. It is 333 pages long and contains nearlly 200 illustrations.

Difficult for Fleming to mention the Stag, he died in 1964!

I wonder if he would have changed the soundtrack in the book - instead of the gruff woofly v8 roaring through the narrow streets of Amsterdam, it would have been the sound of nasal transmission whine and racoon flatulence - rather like comparing Boris Johnson with Commy Ken Livingston.....

Well if no ideas, do we have any other writers or budding authors on the forum other than Terry?

Did "Hazell" come from a book?

                  I don't know, just asking.

IIRC correctly the author wasTerry Venables the former footballer and manager. A man of several talents, he is also a very good singer.

If I recall correctly, a Forum member from Leyland, Lancs said he was going to write a book, and I am not sure but I thought he said that it would feature a Stag? I am presently in contact with Joe Cawley, a Tenerife author originally from Bolton who is currently No.1 on Amazon's Kindle Travel/Humour book list.
He's promised to take a look at mine and make suggestions before I send it for publishing. Also living on Tenerife is another English born successful author - Tony Thorne MBE who writes Science Fiction stories featuring the Island of Tenerife. Have downloaded one of his books to my Kindle and we are in email contact.
Some time ago when I asked about which self-publishing company to use, I got a few replies from various Forum members, and one could have been J.Leyton.
Surprised you didn't get more replies to this thread.
                      Regards and good luck.

I think I may qualify for writing a book which included the stag and am on the forum. Dave (Jell)

Cool, Dave. Is this the co-written book with James Taylor on Amazon that's fetching $135 secondhand?

It is but you can get copies for around £30-£40 on E-Bay occasionally. I did about 6 months ago. Me being tight.

I'm surprised the publishers don't print off another batch - there certainly seems to be the demand for them. - Or isn't it that straight forward?
