    Stag retirement project?

DSCF0161 (600 x 450).jpgDSCF0162 (600 x 450).jpgTook the Stag powered Estate for its MOT today, which it passed despite the worlds most thorough MOT tester.
I have been using this garage for about ten years now, and this stag has been on the lift at the back all that time.
The MOT tester has been there 14 years and he has never seen it move.
It belongs to the garage owner, and is a 1972 model. All the bodywork was done and it just needed retrimming, though it will need a full mechanical rebuild now I would think
He is apparently keeping it for his retirement, non of the mechanics think it will ever get done.

A terrible waste. They can't be too busy if they don't need that lift. Congrats on the pass Neil Martin.

It does seem a shame, but if the owner is close to retirement then it may not be too bad.

I'd assume that the garage is dry and well ventilated so any deterioration to the bodywork should be minimal. I'd also assume that even after his retirement he will still have access to the facilities in the garage, so there may be a good chance that one day it will be finished.

Having said that, if it has been standing for so long, you'd have to wonder about the chap's motivation.

            Regards

There is a garage local to me in Crewe that I used to use that has a Cortina, MGB, Fiesta Mk2 and Morris Minor stashed in the workshop all gathering a thick layer of dust. The Cortina is up on a lift like the Stag in Neil's photo. Despite all that clutter the garage is always busy with lots of cars coming in and out for repair.

It is not lack of business in this garage, they have about 6 or 7 lifts and are always busy. I reckon the owner is probably mid fifties, so it could be there for another 10 years yet!

It crosses my mind every time I go there, too many projects, not enough time.
There is a danger I will have finished them all by the end of this year though!
