Starter solenoid replacement tips.

Hi all I've just received my new solenoid from Wards in the post has anyone got any tips for replacinging it. The starter is off the car. Thanks in advance. Dan.

Make sure the solenoid actuation rod it has a retangular hole in it is hooked over the fork and bench test it BEFORE fitting Graham OH yes the solonoide will go eather way round,the wrong way and it wont operate

Thanks for the tips. Not sure I understand either way round is it not a case of hooking the solenoid rod round the arm and Job done? I was going to bench test first as its such a ******* job to tale off, no doubt equally to refit.

I swapped the starter motor mounting bolts to cap screws to make it a little easier to get on and off.

where the solonoid mounts it is possible (as I recall) can be mounted 180 deg out, I found it easier to remove the plunger from the body of the solonid, hook the plunger over the engaging leaverand then replace the body afterwards.
