    grating gears

as discussed on previous forum have finally got the new clutch in

with new crosshaft and bearings release bear carrier and clutch etc

clutch feel smooth but the gears crunch in first and worse in reverse

bleed the slave clyinder the master clyinder has new seals and the slave is new

the pivot pin is the middle position but tried changing position which makes no raal difference

I note people have spacers on the slave rod will this help

Did you do the thrust pins on the release fork? If they are flat, you lose a lot of movement - you can buy an adjustable pushrod for the TR6, I think from Revington TR - this may help

yes changed the pins in the fork along with just about everything else the gears change ok when on road and you can feel the clutch bite but at rest the gears are notchy to go in to asny gear and the reverse gear crunches

      many thanks

Did you loosen the slave and spin it around on the pipe when you bled it so the bleed nipple was at the top ,this can stop some air getting trapped and could give you a bit more movement.

        Cheers Steve

Could be oil drag..... you could try draining the gearbox, and refilling with 20/50..

            put 70-80 ep gearoil in
the slave clyinder in at the top to aid bleeding

just a up date I am concerned now that the clutch amy not be correct

I have used a good local supplier in cambridge .
took the car out agian today the reverse crunches going in to gear but car does not learch

the 3 gear grinds sometimes and the gears fell notchy

the gearbox was drained during the replacement but did not have much oil

but previous to the clutch renewal the gears were all smooth and id not crunch

so to sumerise I have changed the internal clutch parts due to it sticking and found numerous

faults so changed just about everything with new

the ggearbox now has new seals so holds oil filled with ep 80 gearbox oil

and the clutch feels good but grates as discribed above

real do not want to re do the gear box again with out tryign every thinG

tHE OVERDRIVE NOW ALSO WHINES WHICH IT DID NOT BEFORE SO DO WE AGREE THE FIRST THING TO DO IS THE

              OIL TO 20 -50

              ANY ASSITANCE PLEASE THANK YOU
