    moto lita steering wheel

    Hi All
I have a Stag 77 mark2 and have just received a moto lita dished steering wheel for my 70th from
the kids.I assume I will have to buy a boss to suit the stag, and I would appreciate your comments on the
procedure for fitting the boss and steering wheel. It looks fairly straight forward, but would appreciate
    your advice.

    Regards
    Frank

Recently changed mine. Having read other posts, existing boss may be difficult to remove but no issues with mine. Don't remove the centre nut completely and give the current wheel a firm tap. Slides of the splines simply. Remember to mark top centre position for new wheel alignment.
    Will look terrific.
    Enjoy.
    Matt

changed mine late last year, looks fab, as Matt has said loosen the nut off as much as you dare, then push down on one side of the wheel and tap the opposite side uphill, i used a rubber mallet, they can be stiff to get off, mine was, its been there a long time remember lol, the nut will stop it flying off and hitting you, then line up your centre line and replace, try it out and adjust,

        hope this helps too

Hi Frank, they must think a lot of you ! You will need the MotoLita boss, to get your wheel off, undo the nut ALMOST all the way but don't take it off, while pulling hard on the left side of the wheel, give the right side a good whack from behind with the heel of your hand, if doing that three or four times doesn't shift it, come back again Martin.

            Hi Frank
Fitted my steering wheel on Sunday, used the moto lita boss, very easy to do, the wheel came off with a tap. I used a rubber gaiter behind the wheel to hide the gap,[ e bay number 110811258508]. As mentioned already jusy check the wheels are straight ahead.
            Cheers Andy

Thanks all,but i am a little confused as my existing wheel is held on by seven bolts and having removed these bolts
the wheel comes off easily. There are nine bolt holes on the moto lita so this is where the boss comes in There is then a large nut so where do i go from there. Hope you can help
              Regards
              Frank

Hi Frank, you really need to bolt the wheel back onto the hub, otherwise it's too difficult to remove. Then go to my previous post. Martin.

I'm obviously the odd one out here because when I bought my Stag last June, one of the first things I did was to take off the Mota Lita and replace it with an original wheel.

I just felt that it looked out of place as the wood finish didn't match the veneer on the dashboard.

Still, we are a broad church and each to their own.

                    Regards

                    Peter

PS - I'm not anti-Mota Litas as I have one on my TR

I don't like the wooden Mota Lita in the Stag either but the leather bound one is a big improvement over the standard wheel IMO.

Fitted my steering wheel a while ago and i do prefer "some wood with a good girth" if you get my drift.

Picked mine up of ebay as it has the same spoke design as the Stag.

                              Hello,

The Moto-Lita in tan leather suits my Stag with tan interior quite well.

                              Kind regards,
                              Dieter.
