    New rear springs

Hello all hope some one can clarifie a few points for me ,have just taken deliverie of two new rear springs which I hope to fit this week end & noticed there are 2 paint marks on them blue & green does this signifie any thing & is there a specific way up the springs should go.
Is there any particular tips for fitting any one can pass on .
    Thanks in advance

dont know about the paint ,probably a manufacturers code. but i am aware that if the spring coils are tighter bound at one end than the other you put the tighter coils to the bottom i was informed .ie progressive springs.

Hi Liam the rear springs can go either way,but i was told by Chris witor when fitting his lowered progressive rate springs to fit the tighter bound spring coils to the top of the strut leg,has anyone more info on this

Hi gents thanks for replys where it says put a wire through u j joints to stop from parting where exactly does that mean as I took wheel off yesterday & couldn't quite see where was ment to go .im sure it's straight forward & as so many of you have done this job before I thought it would be easier to ask first
                    Many thanks

                      Liam,

The manual says to do this to prevent separating the two halves of the drive shaft, but there is no need to bother. Indeed, if you have them out you would be well advised to separate them to clean the splines (male and female) of any crusted grease and re-lubricate them with either graphite grease or CV joint grease. Just be aware that there is one spline that is double thickness which must be aligned with its mate otherwise you won't get the two halves back together.

THis may be of use to some with regards to which way to fit progressive springs
I was just looking through the Burton catalogue and read this in tech talk about suspension ,Quote
                        Springs
Progressive coil springs are designed to give a progressively higher spring rate the further they are compressed. When fitting this type of suspension spring always make sure that the end with the closer wound coils is fitted at the top
