    Headlights

My Stag was originally a RHD converted to LHD by Faversham Classics. I find the headlights a bit weak, can anybody give me an idiots guide to Stag headlights and what is the simplest way of improving them. I see on Rimmers site they have a LHD halogen kit, how can I tell what I have in place and does anybody have experience of these halogens.
    Regards
    Geoff

The upgrade comes with two pre-wired relay/fuse panels which fit neatly behind each pair of headlights. This reduces the load and voltage drop in the master light switch, dip/flash switch, fuse board and all the associated wiring.

If it were me I would first of all try relays so that the lights see a better voltage. See how you get on with those.

Secondly I would go with a set of good quality lights, something along the lines of Cibie. Pricey I know but IMO worth it. The Autosol lights I bought from one specialist supplier seemed to have the internal mirrors painted in comparison to the originally chromed lights and sealed lights that came off! Even on my MGB the original Carrelo lights seemed to have superior internal mirrors/reflective material inside.

FWIW, I think the lights from a MkII 2000 will fit .

Another vote for HID here - the best lights I have ever had on any car...

You are right. It's all this Staggering that's driving me nuts (honest!), work, or both. They are made by Autopal. TBH I wished I went for the Cibies at the time (bar the lack of availability at the time) but it is nice to have an MOT without the addition of a few reddies .

Maybe it's something I can do later .

I talk of the lights since a friend of mine with a Dolly Sprint fitted those lights to go from sealed beams. Maybe he expected too much but he was not too impressed with the 'improvement'.

If it wasn't for the new MOT rules I probably consider going for 4300k HID lights if the light cut off could be made satisfactory.

                            Hi Chaser

Here in Ireland we are lucky that anything pre 1980 doesnt need a NCT (MOT), however when I first fitted my HID kit people flashed their lights at me and then I went into a garage of a friend and I could use his light level tester I was able to get mine within legal limits. No more people flashing their lights at me except the odd one. In saying this when I come up behind a Spitfire on a club run I do see the driver playing with his rear view mirror and its not long before they pull over to let me through.
The 4300k have a different shade of light whereas 6000k was much more white which I preferred from a cosmetic point of view, personal choice really
Honestly the best investment I made for night driving on B roads.

I also have HID and i agree they are fantastic and very easy to fit and as long as they are adjusted correctly i have had no problem with either the MOT or other motorists.
