Changing gearbox oil

Can anyone recomend a way of refilling my A type gearbox in situ.

The tube on the new oil container wont let the oil through as the angle is too acute.

Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

First of all have a look under the carpet to check if got a removable access cover on the transmission tunnel - I've heard some owners claim to have one. If not, one of those pump-up pressurised garden sprayers with a suitable hose attachment can be used to good effect, especially if you warm the oil first - put container in a bucket of hot water. Although my Stag is an auto, I've successfullyused this method on my TR6 which is also a bugger to get at from underneath. I'm told that those pump action ketchup dispensors (as seen on burger vans) also work well. If you're lucky it may even screw directly on the top of your oil bottle.

Don't know if this will help you but in the past when I've had to drain the oil out of my "very restricted access" inboard engine in my boat I've borrowed a 12volt electric sump draining pump. This has a flexible tube which I feed down the dipstick hole and another tube that squirts the waste oil into a contaner. As far as I know there's no reason why it shouldn't work in reverse and feed oil into an engine. Sorry can't remember the make but next time I'm at the yard I'll find out.

I've managed with one of those pint bottles with the clear tube on top (bent over). A good squeeze usually gets about 50% of the contents up into the side of the box beforeit needsrefilling.

The same as my method, except I put a longer length of smaller diameter (tight fit)clear tubing inside the the main tube.
