I was giving it some beans down the A22 Caterham bypass yesterday evening and just as I shifted the autobox into 3rd at circa 5,500rpm there was a huge cloud of what I intitiall thought was smoke out of the right hand tail pipe. I pulled over sharpish into a layby and switched off.
Fortunately all that had happened was that one of my coolant hoses had come adrift, (my own fault for using a piece of ally tubing without a lip as a joining piece! I now have proper silicone hose on order)
My mate came to my rescue with some tools and replacement water and a made it home without further problems. It's nice to know my low coolant warning light works!
Who was in the Red Stag heading the other way who hooted and waved?
