    Diy wheel refurb.

    Hi

    I have just treated myself to a nice set of 2nd wheels for my Rover, they are in good condition for their age but could do with some tlc.
    a couple of questions;

    What would be the best way to repair curbing marks,

    What shade of silver would look good,

    Cheers

    Your question is also very timely for me.

    I'd just left home last Sunday to go on the "Llandudno Run" when being distracted by the girls arguing in the back, I lost concentration and hit the kerb with an almighty thud. Fortunately, no-one was hurt, but I have one damaged alloy. I'm afraid we were all in such a mood/state, that we went back home rather than go to the meeting point.

    I'm off work on Wednesday so am taking the Stag to have it's suspension checked over and to see if the tyre was damaged.

    I'm going to get a quote for refurbing the alloy wheel as a DIY job will be beyond me.

    I know that there are refurb kits available, but for the sake of £30/40, I'd prefer an expert to do it, properly balancing the wheel as well.

    Regards

      Just googled this, but at £30, I'd still prefer the professionals to do mine.

        I have read on another forum that you can use stopper to reshape curb marks and repaint with the colour of your choice, or i could get them refurbed for £60 per wheel. i quite like to get them done properly so they last..

          That's 2/3 of the price of a brand new Stag Alloy - and they are machined round, and have the centre in the centre so any garage can balance them. I tried re-furbing one of my wheels and gave up and treated myself to shiny new ones last year!
