    Lacquered paint

Hi all, not posted before and still finding my way around!

My Pimento red stag needs some attention to the body work. I'm a mechanic and do some paint work and went over to water based paint some years ago. I can get two pack paint at a price, but I'm thinking of using the water based and the only difference will be a coat of lacquer to the finish. Not as it left the show room !
I,m not interested in a resale value, but it needs to look ok. Any thoughts, a lacquered finish or not ?

Hi Dave, welcome to the asylum If you've got facilities for dealing with two pack and/or water based, go for it. Colour is the only real issue, wander too far from original choice and some will look askance. Above all, enjoy Martin.

Hello Dave and as Martin says welcome to the asylum, just my view 2k any day hence why about 80% of bodyshop paint sales are still non compliant ,ie 2k rather than water based
Only my choice all the best

Even Chips Away and the likes are not happy using the water based paints but they have to under their franchise. I know a few of them and they say that the water based paints have not been tested properly and are nowhere near as hardy and colour fades so, with red, I agree with everyone that 2K is the way to go if you can. I can buy it over the shelf, so its not that hard and I am not even in the trade. Just ask for Pimento in 2k to paint your garage door and make it 2 lites
          Yellow Rules OK
