Depends on the type of car. They don't in a Caterham

I'll have to have a look as can't get the right position or any position apart from upright must be getting to old

Hi Martin, if the long chrome handle is there, it's possible that the mechanism has rusted, take the seat out, turn it upside down, fire WD40 at anything that looks like it might move, then work it till it does, grease it, then put it back. Martin.
