    CO2 Readings

Good day yesterday. The Stag passed MOT with no advisories and I filed my income tax return online and the taxman owes me £88.
The document which accompanied the MOT certificate showed the exhaust emissions test results as CO 1.310 and HC ppm vol 122.
I know that these results fall within max limits but can anyone please explain what they mean in my world? Is the car running rich or lean?
I recently cleaned carbs and set both needles flush with the base of the piston then used the special tools to wind up each carb by 1.5 turns. Car runs OK but I suspect may need enrichment.
    Thanks

1.3% CO is, in my view, too lean ..... I'd be aiming for the 3.0-4.5% range. I'm sure some alternative views will be along soon

It is a touch weak, try tweaking it a fraction richer. If the engine pulls more strongly it needed doing. 4.5% CO is what is required for maximum power, somewhere between the two should be about right

IMO if an engine idles nicely at 1.3% CO I would think thats a good thing. Think yourself lucky. I have seen too many running much too rich, wasting fuel and sooting up the plugs. And if they are post Aug 1975 they usually fail the MOT.

Just had my MOT completed yesterday and the MOT tester was amazed by the results, must admit so was i.

          Co <4.5% Vol Target
          Actual reading 0.4%

          HC <1200 PPM vol
          Actual 179PPM

Car pulls like a train and no signs of pinking etc?

Not sure now if this is good or bad

            Hi Gary

sounds quite healthy but It is a bit too weak, I usually aim for about 3.00%Co.

              Hi Bob

Set the Mix with a Colortune so how much should i adjust by? and in which direction (Presume it's Anti clock to take the needle out slightly)
