overdrive/gearbox gasket

Hi

I have been working on a friends Stag 1974, Been standing for two years anyway a few minor jobs and passed the MOT but j type g/box o/d unit it is leaking between the o/d and gearbox can I take it off without dropping the gearbox the manual says drop the box out of the car.

Why do I say I will help all the time Lol

You can take it off while still on the car but you will need a miracle to align the splies and refit it, easier on an A type as the splines are bigger.
Make sure the oil isnt coming down the thread of one of the lower fixing bolts, if it is then a copper washer or a dollop of gasket cement will bung it up.

Thanks Neil will clean up the o/d unit and check for that, fingers crossed it's a simple fix.
