I have got chance to purchase a nice red stag on e-bay 1972 red car and I have got an agreed sale of £12,000 what do you think???????? thank you Martin
There are a few on ebay at the moment and the red one does look nice, although i must admit i would go for more of an original myself - but that is personal taste.
Most important is to ensure under all that chrome the engine has been well maintained - make sure you give it a good road test, plenty of revs then let it idle for at least 10 min to make sure the temp does not rise, would be worth getting a IR Temp sensor from Maplin (On offer at the moment) so you can check radiator input/output temp and temp of heads front & back, left & right (The left tends to run at about 5 deg or so higher.
Steer well clear - the rear Stag badges are on the wrong way around. Who knows what other bodges lurk unseen
Seriously, it looks really nice. I do like Signal Red and it looks good on chrome wires. Not a standard UK colour as it was only on early Federal Stags, but if the bare metal respray has been done properly it doesn't matter in my book.
It's also got the desirable Federal headrests, tastefully retrimmed which is good.
I'd like it.

It's a great looking car, to me the colour doesn't look red enough in the pictures to be signal red, more pimento which would be original for the year.
I couldn't see the 2 under bonnet tags that should be on the near side on the front panel. Does the car check out in terms of numbers?
It looks very nice, I'm sure that you'd pay more alot more at one of the specialist dealers for it.
The current owner has clearly spent a lot of money on it. I do agree with GT Jones though - I think that the first thing I'd do is to get rid of all the bling which to my eyes spoils a basically very nice car.
Really nice looking car. For me the Chrome under the bonnet is fine... shows some attention to detail possibly. The bit that's a step too far for me are the red arm rests inside but that would be easily remedied. I just wish I had enough cash and maybe I would be tempted to junk my project and go and buy a running car!
