Has anyone seen one of the 48 Saab 99s were equipped with a V8 from Triumph, but the idea to use a V8 was dropped in favor of a turbocharged engine.

Not come across that one ! It would have made for interesting cooling, they fitted the 99-900 engines backwards to drop a chain onto the input shaft at the front of the car, it would have been very tall with the trans underneath. Interesting thought though. Martin.

I read about these some time ago but couldn't find any pics.
It's a shame Saab didn't go ahead with the V8 - they would no doubt have developed it into a 32 valve fuel injected motor for us.
