    Another Mystery Part

Two key parts of my restoration have happened in the last week. At the third attempt I got the dashboard back in. Previous attempts with the instrument cluster installed were failures. Much easier to line up the side bolts with the instruments out. This completed I could put the steering column back-in which allowed me to connect up most of the electrics. After installing a battery isolator and preparing the fire extinguisher - I powered it up and through no small miracle almost everything worked all the lights, wipers, horn. I don't have indicators or the starter circuit working but a much better result than expected. The loom is LHD US model, the car is now converted to RHD so I've got lot's of transfer looms made up to get stuff back to where it's supposed to be. Plus the all the wiring in front of the radiator was a mess and had to be re-done. Plus the old loom had, in the past seen some issues with overloading that could have set fire to the car.(see photo).

To get around to my question -What's this bit? It was in the container with the steering rack bolts but I've no idea where it goes.
    Thanks
    Nick

    Hi Nick,

That looks like an after market P clip that's been bent to suit somewhere by a PO.

As far as I can remember, there aren't any standard clips like that.

    Cheers

If it's from your LHD originally, then it looks like the strap retaining the power steering hoses to the cross-member. My one is a bodge from the previous owner, but undoubtedy looked like your one originally

The parts book shows a strap just like that to hold the PAS hoses on LHD cars.

I too have a few parts that I'm not sure where they go. Sadly, it was me who took the car apart in the first place!

Drew. It's interesting to see that label on the front panel, next to the 2 body numbers. I've got the original faded label from mine but I've not been able to find a suitable new one. Have you managed to do so?

            Cheers,
            Mike.
