carb needle adjustment rounded off and stuck

car passed mot last week and because its a 1971 did not need to do emmisions but asked for it to be checked and

as expected it was rich about 5.8 % co

so wnet to adjust mixture to day fro the first time but found po had rounded one of the carb adjusters so the adjustment tool

just spins in the hole how can i get this out .

the needle is appx 1.5mm up from flush so had to leave as is currently

any help please

....... or the star washer hasn't been fitted back and the adjuster is just turning and turning but, without anything to push against (the star washer) it's not moving the needle? (ignore the red arrow, that was from another problem!)

it feels as if the tool is spinning as if rounded off but the needle definitly not moving the needle

the other needle was stiff at first but has started to move ok

Hiya, take out the grub screw in the side of the piston, and try to pull the needle out with your fingers, if that doesn't work, push the adjuster tool hard onto the needle and try again, if it still wont come out, swallow hard and try with pliers or tap it through the piston, new needle, holder and sprag washer now needed but it won't break the bank.
