    Jason, Richard,

Sorry, but there is a slight problem about you attending.

    Your Stags aren't white!!

Can you speed-paint them overnight, then we may consider letting you join our illustrious little group.

    Regards

    Peter

A custom car I came across at Ragley Hall, now that's how to fuel a V8 !
In case you're wondering, they're Eidlebrock Martin.

                Hi Martin,

I was good to meet you for the first time on Sunday. I was the guy with the Topaz stag that thought the clutch may have gone!!!

Although the power was down by the time I had managed to park up and the clutch was hot, on leaving the event the car started and went fine. The only problem I have now is that when the engine gets hot it is misfiring around 3000 rpm until you take your foot off and re plant it! Not sure if it is fuel or the coil when it gets hot so I will replace the coil and electronic ignition first.
I was talking to the chap who designed the accelerator mechanism for triumph at the show and he thought that the car may be over fueling and it could be the pump! Any thoughts?

I look forward to meeting you and some other members at more shows in the future.

                Tony

Hi Tony, it was good to meet you too, I'm glad the clutch recovered. I'd change the coil first, £14 won't break the bank. It sounds a little like over-fuelling, difficult to say accurately without experiencing it. Of course it could also be dodgy plugs, they're age doesn't matter, or HT leads. Have to agree with the chap you spoke to, if your pump is electronic, it may just be putting out too much pressure for the needle valves to deal with, the answer to that, is a Malpassi FilterKnig, combined pressure regulator and filter. If you're going to the nationals, I'll come and annoy you again Martin.

A Topaz Stag with two men in it drove past my stranded Stag.

Although it could have been thought that we were just parked up.

I think that Topaz is my favourite colour (after white) for a Stag - very 1970s, but still attractive now.

                    Regards

                    Peter

                      Hi Peter,

It was me that passed you and I was sorry to read about your misfortune. Had I have known at the time I would have stopped and offered my help, but I thought you were waiting to meet up with all the other white stags!!

After passing you we ended up in a long queue up to and into Ragley hall and because my engine has only covered 300 miles since the rebuild I was watching the temperature gauge climbing but fortunately not into the red.
unfortunately What this meant was that the engine seemed to be losing power due to a fuel problem (evaporation? who knows) so I just managed to park up!! The rest is in the previous post.

Have you managed to find out what had happened to your car? Was it the flexi plate that was mentioned?

                      Tony

                        Hi Tony
First thing I would do is have a look in your float bowls and clean them and check your fuel filter,it could be all the crud dropping to the bottom of the float bowl when you stop making it fine when you re-start but making it's way to the needle valve after a while.

                          Martin and Mark,

Thanks for the info re the filters and the carbs I will look into this the weekend once I have tried the electrics. I have ordered a new coil and a Powerspark ignition unit with anew rotor arm to try, as it may be my 20 year old luminition once it gets hot! I have already changed the plugs, cap and leads.

I have had a look at the filter that you suggest Martin and may well get one of these so I can be certain of the pressure.

                          Thanks

                          Tony

Is that v8 a siamese port?

If so I understand 6 into 8 goes.....but very poor distribution?

I don't know about siamesing, it's an Oldsmobile Rocket if that helps. You're probably right about distribution, but I'll bet it's quick, and it did sound great. Martin.
