unused hard top

can anyone help with this one, i have been offered a hardtop for the stag , comes with the tag of being unused and like new, Did the hard top come painted to suit the car when supplied new from the factory and if not can any member who remembers them new tell me what it should be like if it is as described.
Also any thoughts on a value as a buyer not seller.

I think they were all painted car colour as they were supplied as an option in the later years with the car from new. If it is in "AS NEW CONDITION" and you are being given it rip their hands off! You could buy the car from the factory with the hardtop already in colour.
For many years after you could buy the hardtop as a kit which came unpainted.You then had to paint and trim it..
I think there are still a few of these kits around as they were crated and sometimes not assembled..

As to value I would have thought around £800 for a brand new kit would be sensible but I guess if it topped the £1000 and more mark I wouldnt be suprised..

For Some years, Rimmers were selling a new hard top, in primer and untrimmed for £1500. Martin.

Depends how iffy your soft top and how you take to blind spots .

But on that note unless you drive the car every weekend come rain or shine (extra visibility and it does make the car significantly quieter inside IME) jakesmig may have a point since it is a pain to store the hard top .

As for how much, good hard top do not change hands cheaply!
