May I suggest that those of us who are lucky enough to be waking up in our nice warm houses this morning spare a thought to those poor unfortunates who will freezing in their tents at Runswick Bay this weekend.
There will no doubt be lots of 'noggin and natters' and excellent camaraderie (lets stick together lads in times of extreme hardship) but what's the betting that the central heating will be turned up a good few notches on their return home tomorrow afternoon whilst they thaw out.
Thecoast in the north east has some wonderful beaches - as you will know if you have ever visited a beach in Northumberland - but it is not noted for Mediterranean type weather at any time of the year, let alone mid May!
