    Fuel gauge stabilliser

I've seen (I think on ebay) an electronic item being sold which can be added into the wiring from the tank sender that stops the fuel gauge needle from moving about so much - it may come from a TR7 but not certain.

    Anyone got any ideas?

I've only just (after 19 years) started getting a bit fed up with the lack of gauge stability between up and down hills so if I can get one I may be a happier man......only slightly!

    Cheers

    Hi Mike
I must admit driving with a lowish (1/4) tank full that the low fuel light flashes when I accelerate/brake hard or as I go around corners
I am often surprised manufactures didnt add a 'dampener' or 'stabiliser' and so I am considering strapping a 250uF/25v capacitor across the fuel guage terminals with maybe a 10ohm resister in line to see if that would do the trick (just slows the response time down, but I havnt looked at the diagram to check sender values etc to see if that would do the trick yet. But thats a fairly basic modification so may post it if theres any interest once I try it and perfect it.

Hi Mike, the relative of a member in Scotland, has come up with a delay to stop the fuel warning light flashing too early, that may be what you're thinking of. If your gauge fluctuates too much there may be a fault. Martin.

        Hi Mike.

Some months ago a number of us bought a TR7 fuel warning light stabiliser. It does not affect the gauge but stops the light flashing.

Sounds like a plan, i'd be interested.
I may have a word with Moss too as they will know if there is already a (TR7) derived unit already.
It is the 1/4 tank movement that annoys me - trivial really but if there is a way of dealing with it so much the better.

          Cheers,
          Mike

            Hi John,

Damn! we'll have to see if Roger's plan works then - he may be in for a lot of soldering!
