    tatton show and stag hoods

Been to Tatton park today for the classic car show, great show with rubbish weather and lots of stags.loads of nice tin on show and some unusual combinations too, how about a vauxhall firenza with a rover V8, honest !! the boy wanted to bring a jag V12 coupé home with him, don't blame him it sounded awesome.had to have the hood up on the stag and to be frank it's not the nicest place to be in as it's badly stained and a bit tired on the inside.so I think it's time to consider a replacement cover.car is Java green and I fancy a dark green hood rather than black, seen one before and looked really good.Does anyone know if this colour is still available ?

    thanks. peter

If you use it often in the rain I would consider a hardtop. Whilst the soft top I had isn't a great comparison to go by the hard top does transform the Stag if used on a regular basis. Visibility is the big gain you have if you have a Mk2 hood. Just in my opinion.

Saying that, it is pain to take the damn thing off, generally requiring the help of another person.

Regarding your hood how about a bespoke trimmer? You could probably get something close to the colour you want that way using your old hood as a base .

        Pete

Don Hoods has a very good reputation in TR circles and they appear to do a BRG Stag hood

Here is their website. You have to click on the "ordering" tab on the top of the page to get more info and prices.

        Regards

If you use it in the rain you put the hood up, if it aint raining, hood down, why else buy a rag top

Peter, if you've got a hardtop, sell it and put the cash towards a hood.

The biggest gripe I have against the soft top is visibility, and let's be honest, there are enough muppets on the road as it is if you use your Stag on most weekends. I did also say that my soft top was a little draughty inside so the rest I will agree is not a fair comparison.

I do admit that if I did have a working soft top it would most likely be down at almost any available opportunity with the hard top only taking presence in the winter . We'll see if that will change if I can get the hood working more effectively .

Been there, done that, rather leave it in the past .

I'll be honest, I may be a little jealous of you chaps with working hoods :P.
