Engine weight

Im sure someone will know the answer to this.
What is the weight of a fully dressed Stag engine.
I am having to claim against a courier company as they dropped it during transit and they want to know.
I would have said it was a bit late after dropping it....

Depends a bit on what "fully dressed" means (clutch? starter motor? etc.), but the weight generally in circulation is about 200kg.

I guess this is that "dubiously reconditioned" engine that you were sending back to Scotland?

With no s/motor or clutch but with carbs alt,p.steering pump etc..

Might be worth checking on the Terms & Conditions of the courier just in case they have any escape clauses or different compensation rates based on weight.

Just had a quick look and it appears that compensation is paid by weight up to a maximum of £1500 for over 1 tonne,
so it looks like they are covered against paying out to me fully as I paid that for the engine.

Im not all that clued up on how much they can wriggle out of paying the full value,but I expect they are good at it.
Ii might be possible to make sense of it from the salvage of the engine value..
