    handbrake improvers

    has anybody tryed the handbrake improvers sold by tony hart if so do they work as every year i have problems with hand brake for the mot keith

    How long has it been since the car was used? In my case I drove with my handbrake slightly on (under the advice of the tester) for a short distance to get the reading up (that was with nearly new shoes fitted before I bought the car (although it had not been used for quite a few months I understand). Checking the cables for freedom of movement/lubrication will also help .

    Anyway, regarding the handbrake adjusters, there was quite a discussion about them not so long ago. The general consensus was that whilst your handbrake improves the handbrake level travel also increases as a result:

      thanks for that thread have not seen it before i have had new shoes and pistons levers all replaced last year and failed again this year so changed springs on shoes so donot want to fail again normaly the car is tested in begining of april after being layed up for 6 months

        Passed my MOT today, adjusted hand brake by the "tying the levers" method then pumping brakes to reset wretchets. Handbrake was at optimum working condition.
