I am having some problems getting the door alignment right. The driver's door is as far back as it will go on the hinge fixings in the door, but the gap at the back is too great for the strike plate to match up with the door lock.
The car is currently not supported on its wheels but is on stands (and blocks of wood!) on the main front chassis rails next to the drag struts and via shaped wood blocks on the rear jacking points. I think that the car body is distorted due to the method of support as the door gap at the back is wider at the top and when it was supported on the wheels the door gaps were very good.
This is flagging a red warning to me about the main structure. It has all been rebuilt with OEM outer sills and quality repaired inners as well as decent repaired wheel arches with OEM front wings.
Is this something others have met? Is it just due to the method of support? What do you think?
Cheers,
Mike.
