HELP - French Registration certificate (Carte Grise)

Having brought a car over from the UK, I now need to register it France. To do this I need a technical cerificate from the Federation Francaise des Vehicles Anciens and they are requiring specific technical information which I can't find anywhere.
Does anybody on here have a Stag registered in France after 2009, if yes, can you tell me what is written on your Carte Grise for the following catagories:
    D2
    D3
    F1
    F2
    G1
    P6

any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated

    Merci
    Geoff

I would also be very interested in this information. While not there yet, the plan is to move there sometime soon - complete with some of the current fleet!

    Cheers,
    Mike.
Mine since 1987. Finished a 20+ year rebuild in 2012. One of many Triumphs and a 1949 LandRover!

      D2 - STAG

      D3 - Nothing

      F1 - Nothing

      F2 - Nothing

      G1 - Nothing

P6 - 17 - Note/ the FFVE filled in this number from the details given in the application e.g. no of cylinders, capacity, bore/stroke etc. But now that it is known, just put in 17.

I have a copy of my FFVE application form somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment and I will revert. I seem to remember filling in F&,F2 and G1 and G1 from the Stag specification details, but the FFVE deemed these not to be required and the Attestation did not have anything against those categories. All the Prefecture does is to copy the details from the Atttestation on to the new carte grise.

        Hi Geoff,

mine was registered on 30/03/12 and it's the same as Don. Unfortunately, I didn't keep a copy of the certificate before handing it to the prefecture but it was the same thing and the FFVE didn't bother making the research for these informations (I thought they would for 50 euros !). For the P6, I put the 17 horsepower tax number because I had it on an old 1975 french carshow magazine. Be prepared to wait at least 2 months for your certificate to come back and don't try to call them on the phone as they won't answer (welcome to France...). Be sure to enclose the stamps for the documents mailing back (if not, they'll take 2 months to examine the files and then will tell you the stamps are missing and then you wait another 2 more months). Good luck.

        Tony

P.S: are you going to the Classic British Welcome at Saint Saturnin prior to the 24 hours race on next Friday ?

Further to my post above, I can't find the application to the FFVE. But I found the one for my MGB and D3 is empty, F2 and G1 are filled in because I put the info on the form. F1 is blank.

If you want to stick some figures in, then I would say: (from specs)

          F2 - 1705kg

          G1 - 1250kg

Thank guys, one more question, the form also asks for a "Numero de serie d'indentification" and also wants a photo of the manufacturere plate with this number stamped on it. Am I right in assuming this the number stamped on the interior of the door frame in my case LD45472A which is the same as the chassis/frame number on the British log book

              Hi Geoff,

Out of interest, did you realise that your car would appear to be the 250th from last ever produced ?

              Cheers

My car was a French delivered one. I don't have papers anymore, but this chassis plate was on the front slam panel if it's of any use.

                The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

                  Dasadrew/Geoff,

The 2970kg looks like it should be F1. PTR " poids tout roulant" I think = max weight of car and contents + max towing weight. So, now you have all 3 figures.

Geoff, you are right - the B post plate is what you need to photograph.

                      carte Grise - unecessary?

Just caught up with this forum and this topic, but when I moved to France, I was told by my broker you can have your car as part of a classic car collection, you keep the UK registration, no need for an MOT or French equivalent. So I signed up as the pain of trying to register the car in France was too much. Any one else done this? Its only third party fire and theft though

I was living in France and bought the car in the UK and I called a few British brokers but they only offered me day rates at ridiculous prices. French brokers were happy to cover the car but on the understanding that the it would eventually be registered in France.
In the end the process of registration was not to difficult, the MOT was straight forward, getting a certificate of conformity was a few moths but it was just filling out the form and waiting. Once I had all the documentation, I spent 15 minutes at the prefecture and voila she was French.
Getting 3rd party insurance is very easy in France but fully comp is more difficult because you need a valuation which cost >100 euro and has to repeated every 2 or 3 years. I eventually found a specialist broker who wavered the valuation up to 15k euro. If the car is written off, I will lose some money but I know that I paid too much in the first place.

                        Regards
                        Geoff

                          cjrm1,

I have 3 ex UK classics registered in France. As Geoff said, it is a fairly easy exercise. There are lots of Brits living out here and running around with with UK registered classics, but it is illegal after a specific time period, which I forget - 6 months I think. However, they will get away with it until they either have an accident or get stopped at a police checkpoint, but the chances of the latter are slim as I doubt if the "flics" would stop a classic. Since about a year ago, the UK/French rules for classics have swapped over. Now French carte grise collection cars (over 30 years old) need a French MOT and UK ones pre 1973(?) don't. That might make running around France in a UK registered classic a bit more complicated, should the rossers get involved.

You don't have one in France as well then?

I don't either - there's too many French people there
