    Header Tank Kits...

Hello everyone, My name is Ben i'm 23 and new on here. I will be picking up my first Stag on friday and can't wait!

I will be paying some attention to the cooling system, new hoses and rad ect...

The idea of fitting a header tank has caught my eye, it seems like a good idea to have an extra reserve of coolant at the highest point in the system.

There are two kits i've seen:

    EJ Ward: http://www.ejward.co.uk/header-tank-...ses-p6261.html

    Stagweber: http://stagweber.co.uk/Triumph_Stag_Header_Tank_Kit

Can anyone advise me which one would be the better kit, from looking at the pictures it looks like they are plumbed in differently to the cooling system.

    Many thanks, Ben

I used the Stag weber kit and highly recommend it.

Hi Ben good choice of car. You could do your own header tank kit. I have a Volvo header tank on mine, the outlet is plumbed into the water pump/heater return connection via a tee piece, top of the rad vented back to the vent inlet on the header tank. Didn't cost much.

      Jason.

p.s. shouldn't you have a Corsa with a drain pipe sticking out the back being 23?

I am looking at a TR7 Header tank. It is at least triumph and fits with the cars age better than any alloy jobbie!

          Hi Ben,
Welcome to Stag ownership - you clearly have excellent taste!
Either of those choices will work fine, or a DIY job as Jason has mentioned will work fine......

Ben, welcome to the world of lost weekends.
I used one out of a Rover 25, to go with my Rover V8, now I'm roving all over the place

I think I know what you mean, so yes IMHO it looks more like it might be factory. But then other have used sierra cosworth header tanks in plastic that also do not look out of place in my view.

I'd hang on Ben, i thought the same when i bought mine a year ago. But i've never overheated and never had any cooling issues whatsoever. i even let it idle away on a really hot day a few weeks ago (25c), and the guage never budged. i've therefore left well alone. You may find many other jobs will take priority and need you're time and cash. i'll fit a header when i've finished everything else. By the way, my stag is the best decision i've ever made, apart from my first divorce, lol. cheers, jools

Thanks Alan, now that looks the part to me, as though it came like that off the production line. Does it have the warning buzzer type thingey?
