Showing Heritage Certificates With Stag At Shows.

I have noticed when at shows and owners put there heritage certificates on show with the "car" the owners omit to cover up the key numbers so any thief can make a note of the numbers and get them cut ala car disappears. PLEASE hide this info, we dont want to loose anymore cars. Dave

You are aware most modern cars display the VIN numbers in plain sight? Maybe I am missing the point here though to be fair .

???? He is talking about the KEY numbers which are shown on the Heritage Certificate and is right!
      The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

A very good point and worth reminding !

Although I've got one, I've always been a little concerned about the BMIHT certificates in general - IIRC you don't have to prove ownership of the vehicle to get one. Granted you need to supply the chassis no. (and be determined) but that's all, however I stand to be corrected on this point.

A quality immobiliser is a must IMO to overcome the 'open' nature of a Stag and its inherrent 1970s lack of security features !

I am not so sure. Any electronic immobiliser on a stag can be overcome simply by connecting a cable between the battery +ve and the coil +ve. Even if the fuel pump is controlled by the immobiliser I suspect a similar fly lead to the pump inertia switch would bypass that too.

I think a hidden tracker device is a much better bet.

Sorry, I thought Heritage certificates confirmed engine and body numbers, the spec of the car, not the physical key numbers! I mistook key in his statement for the meaning of numbers unique to a car (VIN, engine no. etc.)

            Whoops!

In that case mine should be unstealable with the old tech immobiliser on it (I wish!) .
