    Insurance Renewal

Sorry to bring up this old topic again but I am in the process of renewing with RH on the "club scheme"
I hadn't really looked at it in details as it appreared they had kept the premium low again and I know it carries the benefits of roadside assistance etc etc. mine is just over £120.

However as I am currently suffering with some bug my daughter kindly passed on I have been taking the opportunity to go through things sat on my desk and this is one of them.
My renewal doesn't mention the club scheme or breakdown cover this time and they have upped the excess on the windscreen to £75 without a word. In my frail state of mind (man flu) I have read through most of the other stuff but can't see any major changes apart from they have added some clause about damage through acts of terrorism now not being covered
Any one else had this through recently as they were still advertising in the club magasine as £50 excess and breakdown cover etc etc.
I have emailed them for an answer so I get something in print as I don't rely on phone calls with call centres!

or in the words of Wogan "is it me?"
I had best go and add some more brandy to my coffee and have a lie down now
    Cheers

The excess has been increaded to £75 on renewal but remains at £50 on existing policies. Your policy number will be the same amd will denote to RH that it is a Club Scheme policy, so dont worry.

      OK Andrew
      Thanks for that
Hopefully they will confirm on email but it is a tad miss-leading don't you think even says £75 on the certificate
I would prefer something more concrete, although like us all I don't a claim I don't want any excuses when the time comes either.

      Cheers

I've just renewed mine with RH but changed to 'lay up' Cover whilst it is off the road. Half the price but with no windscreen cover (even accidental in garage).

Notice endorsements stated roof must be up if a convertible, unlike what was stated on the forum a week ago, I think.

        Jeff.

Didnt see the endorsement for the roof Jeff, perhaps thats just because your on lay up cover?
I'll have another look at mine
I'll also post up their response. I know I may sound an old cynic but I worked with insurance companies for years and the smallest bit of wriggle room for them is best avoided

            Hi Glyn,

Quite agree, anything to weezle out of claim and they will.

Just checked the original invitation to renewal small print and that states the roof must be up in the case of a convertible.

Hope you're feeling better, that bl**dy man flu is a killer!

Update on this for those interested
it would appear the terms have changed despite the advert in the club magazine copy of email content below I haven't included name of the respondent although there was no confirmation in the breakdown cover either which I specifically asked for ?
Obviously pays to take nothing for granted chaps.

Thank you for your email dated the 20th June 2012-06-

I can confirm that your policy does reflect that you are a SOC member
Also our windscreen excess has recently increased to £75 for replacement and £10 repair.

              Many thanks

Ps Jeff it's given me the opportunity to watch my Senna DVD which I have had for a few months and couldn't get the tv to myself ! So not all bad mate

That's a new one on me. I'm not with the RH scheme, but every policy I've ever had for the Stag or daily driver, repairs have been free. I guess it couldn't last

I agree Dave, when I was shopping around for the weekly motor I found many of them now have an excess on repairs. Less of an incentive to bother imho.
But I would have thought the advert in the June owners club mag would be correct!!

Just had the breakdown cover confirmed
                  "Breakdown cover is still included
UK and European breakdown cover but does exclude homestart"

So thats not been removed quietly

                  Cheers Glyn

I did post an insurance question last week on here I have now finally got an answer.
I questioned if I was covered whilst parading around a race circuit al la Brands Hatch :- No its not covered.
My second point is leaving the Stag with the hood down unattended again the car is not covered by the theft part of the policy. It has to be left with the hood up locked and secured and with any immobiliser that is fitted activated.
                    This is with Lancaster.

                    Paul.

                        Hi Jeff
                        Thanks for the info.

I can confirm that the cars are covered under the RH with top down provided there has been adequate protection put in place by the owner, such as no keys in ignition, doors locked etc. They have agreed that the wording in the policy is misleading and they confired to me that it is being changed to make it cleaer. They have never decline a claim with a Stag with top down and have reassured me enough to pass this on to you all. They would expect the soft top to be put up over night say at a hotel etc for example and I think we agree this is what anyone would do with a Stag if they cared for it.

So, please enjoy insured top down weather and dont be misled by the clause, it is going to be changed
                        Cheers
