    Bleeding clutch

Had a struggle bleeding the clutch after a new slave tonight ,tried the "get the nipple to the top trick" with no luck.I found that disconecting the push rod and fully compessing the piston whilst bleeding with a eezibleed solved the problem as there was now no cavity for air bubbles to hide. Its quite hard to push the piston back but once done all was well.Just thought it may help someone.

      Steve.
I used a vacuum hand pump (about £20 off fleabay) when I did mine and that worked much better than the easy bleed.
I also found a vacuum fault with the pipes feeding the temperature flap valve on the air filter box and that cured the hot starting and poor running fault and you can test the vacuum advance and retard. So I justified to myself why I bought it!!.

Alan ,looking forward to giving your new stag a look over at brands ,hopfully i will be in my Stag.Almost there with doing quite a few jobs.
Paul I have one of the vacuum pumps that can also be used for bleeding but didn't get on with it last time I tried bleeding with it,maybe i should give it another go.Ive always found the eezibleed quite good as long as you deflate the tyre down to about 5-10 psi, anything over that and it can get messy.

          Steve.
Yes agree with the pressure it surprising where and how much comes out!!!
I now use a pressure pump up garden trigger spray that I have modified put a small pressure gauge on it and made sure the pick-up-tube is at the bottom of the tank that way I can easily see how pressure is in the tank and as it has a long hose see how much fluid is left in the tank when under the car. cost was about £3.00 for the spray and £5 for the gauge and some fish tank hose.

Had to admit I thought bleeding hydralics was a doddle, until did mine early this year. But bleed nipple to top and an eezi bleed kit (plastic tube into a bottle) did the trick for me.

GuysI know that this thread is a couple of months old but I'm just going through the process with all new cylinders and hose. Problem I'm having is that as soon as I crack open the bleed nipple the fluid leaks past the threads. The one way valves, split hoses, vacuum pumps don't help with this. I'm wondering if PTFE tape on the thread would solve the problem?? I'm using Motul Dot4 Synthetic fluid.Any thoughts?Nick

Very reassuring to know that while I slept peacefully, you were working away under your car.

Things didn't go so well bleeding the brakes. The PWDA valve is piddling fluid put through the switch. bugger it! means I have to start again. It turns out the synthetic brake fluid isn't paint friendly either which makes removing the PWDA a royal pain!

You have my sympathy. Stick at it and it will come right.

Isn't it bed time for you now?

Just have to watch the All Blacks play the Wallabies and that'll be about it. We're 11 hours ahead.
