    Wet !

HI all, I'm getting water in both front footwells, not a lot, but enough to wet the carpets, I've tried various things to no avail. All I can say positively is that it's not the windscreen. Does anybody have experience of curing this ? Martin.

Is it dripping down the bottom of the door cards? (seen that before).

            Hi Martin,

I had the same prob last year and found it was the heater.

The thought of actually tasting it could be quite offputting, but is it sweet ? If so, it might be leaking from the heater matrix.

Thanks guys ( except Roger ) No smell of anti-freeze, and it only happens when it rains. Martin.

With that information I would say you had a leak

I know you have disagreed with me in the past Martin but I also got wet carpets when it rained,BUT ever since I have welded and filled the seams between the front wings and panel below the windscreen, it has never happened. I had to prop up the carpets regularly to dry out, now I don't.

It now appears to divert the rain water down along the wing and to the front. Another problem was water getting in through grommet holes in the bulkhead which has also stopped.

Test it out with a hose or watering can whilst sitting inside with a torch to 'trace' any leaks from under the dash.

                    Good luck.

                    Jeff.

Good thinking Jeff, thank you. No corrosion involved thank God. Martin.
PS. I thought you disagreed with me ?

I don't think so Chris, the kick boards are getting damp though. Martin.

the chrome trim at the top of the windscreen water can get under there or may the soft top seals need changing
