    Stag colour - New Tricks

    Hi,
I am going to get my Stag resprayed & really like the colour of the Stag in the BBC series "New Tricks". My paint shop tells me there are over 40 variations of British Racing Green so that doesn't seem to be specific enough..............
Does anyone know know the details of that New Tricks colour?

    Many Thanks Neil Henderson

This link should help you. If you click on the paint colour name, a picture should come up showing that particular colour (you'll see what I mean)

      Hi Neil,

This is a subject close to my heart as I thought my car was British Racing Green and it was only after having it a few months that a Stag expert told me it wasn't

Apparently, mine started life as BRG but when it was resprayed by a PO they chose a colour that is very close to, but not exactly the same as, Brooklands.

Anyway, as the site that Peter has mentioned shows, the only BRG that Triumph used on Stags was Triumph code no 75, whilst Brooklands was HAE.

I think with those Triumph codes and some research with paint experts you should be able to get a good match. I've had both BRG and Brooklands touch ups from these people: http://auto-paint.co.uk/carpaint/ I guess they may well be able to supply in volume, although whether to Australi I don't know. Maybe they could give you a modern paint reference number so you could get it made up locally.

Btw In some pics my car looks BRG and in others it looks like Brooklands

      Cheers

      Julian

There is a Java one for sale on the internet and I think it looks really cool.

Funny how colours go in and out of fashion.

              Does HAE stand for anything?

Incidentally, on the link I provided earlier, if you click on Jasmine you get the funniest looking Stag you've ever seen

                  Hi Guys,

Dave, thanks for your comment although I reckon the pic where it was like BRG makes it look a bit 'dowdy'

Peter, HAE doesn't stand for anything. In the last year of Stag production, BL introduced the three letter colour coding which, IIRC, was also used on other BL models.

Ian, not whoring, honest Guv, but I reckon the pics make my car almost look like two different cars

                  Cheers

This is PWR233P - which was the New Tricks Stag in the first two series but not the later ones. Had it repainted last year to match the paint it had received previously, which PO thought was Brooklands but it's darker than that, more BRG, which is what the original paint code (75) said it was. I think it' s a bit lighter than the current New tricks colour.

PWR will be on telly again later this year in "The Last Weekend", being driven by Rupert Penry-Jones.

                      Hi Dylan,
My wife has kindly voluteered to help navigate for Rupert when he drives the Stag - she will be in England next month at the Olympics watching the dressage. Would that be ok with Rupert?
Thanks to all for the great help with the colours - I like colour 75 the best - all I need to do now is to get that translated to my paint shop...........
                      Regards Neil

Sadly all the filming is done and dusted, in the can, whatever. I never got onto the set either, dammit. So sorry, your missus (and mine) is out of luck!

I'm currently in Oxford but will be driving it back home to Norwich tomorrow, so if anyone sees us out on the A505 or the A11, flash your lights!

Hope your wife has fun at the Olympics Neil

                        cheers
