    Oh happy days

With all the negatives coments about Stag ownership I thought I would share my first experience of Stag ownership with you,

First of all, thanks for all the feedback on the problems i had with my newStag. The heater control valve was a pig to get off but with the advice given by various menbers I fabricated a simple puller and out it came. replaced the 'O' ring and smeared it with silicone oil from my diving kit, no leaks and the heater works fine.

The wheel wobble was resolved but fitting some period Minilites with 195, 75, 14 tyres. The car now sits approx 2" lower and really looks the part. The handling is great. Do I need to recalibrate the speedo?

My eratic speedo was resolved by re-greasing the inner cable, simple but effective.

So, I am happy to report that my stag not only looks great with it's new Black Cherry Metallic paint job but it goes well too. I've had it two days and already covered over 200 miles.

Now for the new hood :dude:

    Oh happy days

If the weather holds I'll take some picture tomorrow. Been too busy playing with it today. (the car)

I received a new wooden steering wheel today from Moto-Build. It was recommend by V8. Came with the boss and was fitted in minutes. It's transformed the look of the car and is much nicer than the original.

          Hi Tony

Good to hear you have sorted out your problems. Use or borrow a Sat Nav to check your speedo, it's the easiest way.

Good advice. I borrowed my Son's TomTom for Prescott last Sunday. According to that my speedo under reads! At an indicated 70mph, TomTom told me I was doing 75. Never was there a better excuse for fittingthe 15" minilites with 196/65 tyres, as they are very slightly smaller that the standard wheels/tyres fitted now.

My Stag is manual but was originally auto, since the conversion the speedo has read low with 30 being 35 and 70 being 80, not good with all the speed cameras around. I recently fitted 15 inch Minilites with60 profile tyres and the speedo now reads correctly.

                    Marty,

Tony followed this from an earlier post:

Speedo flicker is usually down to poorly routed or lubricated cable. Check how it runs around the steering column area. Any sharp bends should be taken out be re-routing it if possible. To lubricate, undo the cable from the back of the speedo, pull the inner out, and wipe it with light grease as you push it back in. Do not grease the top 3-4" as this may lead to grease getting in the head unit, which you don't want.
