As the Valvoline ad has disappeared from the mag, does that mean we've lost our source of discounted VR1 ? Martin.

Hi Martin,
It has always been cheaper from Eurocarparts.com with their discount (nearly always running and varying between 25-30%). Right now on their website if you put in SERVICE25 in the 'Gift Certificate/Promo Code' box at the checkout page and get 5l for £22.48 delivered.
Happy shopping

I can now take back the Hafords Classic oil I bought (and used too at last oil change) I am sure it is ok but VR1 is clearly a better option and almost the same price.

I was under the impression that the Halfords classic oil was Comma classic oil rebranded.
VR1 and Millers are good oils I admit (I have tried both), although on spec (I.e, the API ratings) I believe the Unipart M300 20W50 oil is meant to be superior. It may be lacking in ZDDP however, and a 'better' rating is not necessarily the correct rating for the oil.

No idea about the Comma connection but I'll see how we go with VR1 perticularly as it is a well known brand designed for performance engines (ok, the Stag hardly fits this I know), has very good write ups and while I've not had a problem with Halfords Classic, the price difference while on special offer with EuroP makes using VR1 an easier choice given its credentials

Opie oils have an offer on at the moment of £27.20 for 5 litres of VR1 if anybody is interested: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-73741-va...ngine-oil.aspx + free delivery on orders over £35.
No use to me as I've just started using Millers Semi Synthetic Classic but I thought it might be of interest if you can't get the Europcarparts offer for any reason.
Cheers
Julian
