    Wheels & MoT

    Happy Day !

Fitting new wheels & tyres has improved the handling and reduced vibration considerably Fantastic deal from Midland Wheels, 15" Minilites with Yokohama 195/65 rubber fitted. Very pleased with the new look too........any excuse for another picture

M.o.T. passed today, just one advisory, tester didn't like LED front side lights, advised 'slightly discoloured'

    bring on the summer

They look great Dave. It is strange how they do give a smoother drive eh?

I got a set of 6x15 from them at Stoneleigh this year, and a lot cheaper than that, but they were a bit of a pain to fit due to clearance problems on one side. At least I don't have to put up with that bloody annoying vibration the Stag alloys were giving me!

            Dave,
nice looking combination, I think you'll like the Yokohamas, I have them fitted to mine on standard Stag alloys and enjoy the road holdingthey give. They don't screech when they spin so less embarassment.
Out of intrest, do the larger size wheels affect the speedo or does the tyre size compensate?
            John.

              Hi John,
Roadholding is fantastic compared with the Road Champ tyres fitted by P.O. I did a check with satnav speed, reads about 2 mile/h high at 70,
              cheers

Mr Farmer, I was thinking of the 15"x6" somewhere in the not too distant, what were the clearance probs that you had?

The standard Stag alloy wheel off set is 28mm with 5.5 inch wide rims.
If the off set of the minilite replicas is 15mm...still with 5.5 inch rims, the wheel will stick out further from standard by 13mm.
Now if the rims are 6 inch wide, with the same off set of 15mm, the wheel will now stick out just over 16mm from standard.
Depending on how good or bad your body shell is, this could result in a wheel sticking out a little too far.
Most minilite replicas are available with an off set of 15 or 22mm. I would therefore suggest that the 22mm is most appropriate for the Stag.
                  Cheers,
                  Mike

You can still use an ET28 rim quite safely on a Stag IMO on a 6J wheel (assuming you go no wider than 205 on the tyres).

Hi Mark, I think the LED sidelights came from Hong Kong. They have 9 LEDs and are described as white, they produced no comments at my MOT in June. They're very cheap, but you'll have to search for them. The bulb number is BA9S, sadly I can't recall the supplier. Good luck, Martin.
